Wolverhampton Wanderers have paid a heartfelt tribute to former forward Diogo Jota, inducting him into the club’s Hall of Fame following his tragic death in a car accident earlier this month.
Jota, who played a pivotal role in Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League in 2018, joined Liverpool in 2020 and became a fan favorite at both clubs.
“Diogo was not only a phenomenal footballer, but someone who carried himself with humility and kindness throughout his time at Wolves, and will be sorely missed by all of us,” said Matt Wild, Wolves’ director of football administration, in a statement on Thursday.
The Wolves Hall of Fame, established in 2008, includes legends such as Billy Wright, Derek Dougan, and Steve Bull. Jota now joins this esteemed list, remembered not only for his skill on the pitch but for his character off it.
