Jagannath University students continued their sit-in protest for the third consecutive day on Friday, shifting their position from Kakrail intersection to the road leading to the Chief Adviser’s residence to press their four-point demand.
Unlike previous days, today’s protest did not disrupt traffic at Kakrail as students chose to occupy a section near the entrance of the road toward the Chief Adviser’s official residence. As a result, Kakrail intersection remained open, and traffic flow was normal.
By morning, hundreds of students, joined by faculty members, were seen staging the demonstration, chanting slogans such as “Tumi ke, ami ke—Jobiyan, Jobiyan!”, “Break the black hand of discrimination!” and “Injustice will drown in the flood of our blood!”
Protesting student Tanvir said, “For now, we’ve moved aside to avoid public inconvenience. More students are on their way, and we will soon decide whether to block Kakrail intersection again.”
Another student leader, Rajen Saleh, stated, “Our previously announced rally will begin shortly. After the Jummah prayers, we will also launch a mass hunger strike to push our demands forward.”
From early morning, more students arrived by bus at Kakrail to join the protest. Meanwhile, law enforcement personnel were seen maintaining a cautious and vigilant presence in the area, as they have in previous days, to prevent any untoward incidents.
