In response to the brutal murder of scrap trader Mohammad Shohagh in Old Dhaka, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal has blamed government inaction for the worsening law and order situation.
At a press conference held at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on Saturday, Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna said, “The administration is being rendered inactive in a planned way to prolong the election process amid growing anarchy.”
Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal jointly questioned why the main culprits of Shohagh’s murder—clearly visible in CCTV and viral video footage—were not arrested or even named in the police case. Munna cited victim family claims that three real attackers were excluded while innocent names were added.
He also raised suspicion over the two-day delay in publicizing the incident, asking if it was part of a broader agenda.
While denying involvement of any official members of Jubo Dal or its affiliated wings in the attack, Munna confirmed that five individuals accused in the case were expelled from the three BNP wings for life.
The groups demanded swift investigation and justice, warning that continued administrative silence could worsen the national crisis.
