In a recent post on his verified Facebook account, Mahfuz Alam, the Information and Broadcasting Adviser, emphasized that only the unity of students and youth, similar to the July unity, can prevent the return of the Awami League. He urged those involved in the struggle for democratic change to put aside internal conflicts. They must unite against the ruling party’s potential resurgence.

Alam highlighted the ongoing conspiracies and the manipulation of political figures, emphasizing that while the names of specific individuals are not crucial, the current situation demands introspection reform. “The conspiracies that were brewed continue to unfold should be addressed. Let us unite for justice and reform, build the Bangladesh envisioned by martyrs & the injured,” Alam wrote.

He underscored that there is still time to act, urging the youth to rise once again. “Just as in July, there is still an opportunity to unite against the Awami League. The youth must come together to resist the conspiracies that have been targeted at our generation. They should work towards a nation built on accountability and justice.”

The adviser also addressed the underlying issue of the country’s political dynamics, stating that the old system needs to be dismantled in order to move forward. He warned that if not, nothing would remain viable in the long term. Alam noted that certain factions of the July generation had fallen into the traps set by the establishment, with their legitimate grievances being manipulated to divide them.

“Our generation has been divided to preserve the establishment, but now is the time to channel our emotions towards justice, reform, and countering the establishment’s settlements,” Alam wrote. “Long live the July generation! Long live the unity of students and youth!”

Alam’s words call for a resurgence of student-led activism, emphasizing that only through unity can the country’s future be safeguarded from authoritarian tendencies.
