Shahjahanpur (Bogra) Correspondent: A human chain was held in Shahjahanpur, Bogra, demanding justice for the murder of courageous journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin and calling for the execution of his killers. The program was attended by public representatives, political leaders, and members of civil society.
The protest took place yesterday (Wednesday, 13 August) at 11:00 am at the Majhira Stand on the Dhaka–Rangpur Highway, organized by the Shahjahanpur Press Club.
Presided over by Shahjahanpur Press Club President Ziaur Rahman Zia, the event featured Bogra District Press Club General Secretary Kalam Azad as the chief guest. The program was conducted by journalist Sanowar Hossain.
Other speakers included Press Club General Secretary Sajibul Alam Sajib, former President Sazedur Rahman Sobuj, Atikur Rahman Atik, former General Secretary Shahadat Hossain, Saiduzzaman Tara, Nazrul Islam Milon, and former Vice-President Arifur Rahman Mithu.
Notable attendees included Acting Chairman of Majhira Union Parishad Alhaj Alomgir Hossain Alom, Policing Committee President Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, prominent hotel businessman Abdul Jabbar, journalists Shahin Alam, Suchandan Sarker, Shafiqul Islam Shafik, Ranjhu Mia, Riazul Islam, Mejbaul Alam, Shah Alam, Sarker Mukta, Monjurul Islam Ripon, Zakaria, Khaja Ratan, Mizanur Rahman, and Nazirul Islam. Many journalists from various print and electronic media outlets were also present, including Anwar, Mohiuddin, Shiblu, Sujon, Sobuj, Kaiyum, Monowar, Zubayer, Shakil, and others.
Speakers at the human chain demanded that a charge sheet in the Tuhin murder case be submitted within 15 days and that all accused be handed exemplary punishment through a speedy trial. They warned that if justice is delayed, a larger nationwide movement will be launched to protest the persecution and killing of journalists.
