BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has departed from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for her residence, Firoza, following her return from London after four months of medical treatment.
On Tuesday at around 11:15 AM, Khaleda Zia left the airport accompanied by her daughters-in-law, Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, who traveled with her from London. She arrived in Dhaka on a special air ambulance arranged by the Qatari royal family, which departed Heathrow Airport at 4:35 PM local time and landed in Dhaka at 9:35 PM Bangladesh time after a layover in Doha.
Khaleda Zia was welcomed at the airport by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior leaders of the party’s National Standing Committee. Supporters and party activists also lined the route from the airport to Gulshan to greet their leader, maintaining a presence on the sidewalks instead of crowding the roads, in consideration of ongoing SSC examinations.
Her return marks a significant moment for BNP, as the party gears up for future political engagements with renewed enthusiasm.
