Dr Khalilur Rahman, currently serving as the Chief Adviser’s High Representative on Rohingya and Priority Issues, has been appointed as the National Security Adviser. The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Wednesday confirming the appointment.
Dr Khalilur Rahman will now take on the additional responsibility of National Security Adviser, assisting the Chief Adviser in matters related to the Ministry of Defence. This new designation combines his existing role as the High Representative on Rohingya and Priority Issues.
A distinguished diplomat, Dr Rahman has had a long career in public service, including his tenure at the United Nations and his leadership in various international trade and development roles. He has also served as a private secretary to the late Mr. Justice Latifur Rahman, the Chief Adviser of the third caretaker government.
Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent states that the notification from the Cabinet Division reflects a strategic move, allowing Dr Rahman to contribute more effectively to national security and foreign policy alongside his ongoing efforts to address the Rohingya crisis and other key priorities.
