Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called on Kuwaiti investors to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and participate in the Bangladesh Investment Summit, scheduled for April 7-9 in Dhaka.

On Sunday (March 9), newly appointed Kuwaiti Ambassador Ali Tuniyan Abdul Wahab Hamadah paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Adviser at the state guesthouse, Jamuna, where the call for investment was made.

During the meeting, Professor Yunus urged the ambassador to bring Kuwaiti investors to the summit, emphasizing that it would be a significant opportunity for both nations.

The discussions centered on enhancing diplomatic, trade, and economic ties, with a particular focus on investment, energy, food security, and migrant welfare. Professor Yunus reaffirmed Bangladesh’s long-standing friendship with Kuwait and called for greater cooperation in key sectors.

Highlighting investment prospects, he pointed out that Bangladesh offers substantial opportunities, particularly in the halal food industry, which has a massive global market. He also encouraged the inclusion of young entrepreneurs in this sector.

Ambassador Hamadah conveyed Kuwait’s full support for Bangladesh’s interim government on behalf of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people.

Both sides discussed increasing crude energy imports to meet Bangladesh’s growing demand. The Chief Adviser invited Kuwait to invest in a joint oil refinery project and explore opportunities in renewable energy initiatives.

Professor Yunus also stressed the need for better working conditions for Bangladeshi migrant workers, especially women, in Kuwait. He praised the professionalism of Bangladeshi military personnel serving in Kuwait and reiterated the commitment to strengthening defense cooperation.

“Our partnership is built on mutual respect and collaboration. We are committed to expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and beyond,” the Chief Adviser said.
