La Liga president shares insight on Messi and Neymar’s ‘return’ to Barcelona

La Liga President Javier Tebas discussed the possibility of Lionel Messi and Neymar returning to Barcelona, offering contrasting views on the two superstars.

Lionel Messi and Neymar da Silva were once the shining stars of Barcelona during its golden era. Together, they dominated the Nou Camp before moving on to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, time has taken them on different paths—Messi now plays in the United States, while Neymar has made stops in Saudi Arabia and Brazil. Despite this, rumors continue to swirl about whether either player could return to Barcelona.

La Liga President Javier Tebas recently addressed these speculations, offering a clear explanation blending potential and reality. According to Tebas, while Barcelona may keep the door open for Messi’s return, the situation with Neymar is entirely different.

Neymar left Barcelona in 2017 after breaking the world transfer record, while Messi also departed in 2021 due to financial issues. However, in Tebas’ eyes, Messi and Barcelona are two sides of the same coin. “I’m sure Messi would like to return to Barcelona. He spent a long time there. Whether as a player or in another role, I’m certain he will come back. Messi and Barcelona are part of the same brand; their relationship is like love,” he said.

On the other hand, Tebas was firm in his stance on Neymar’s future, stating, “Neymar is a completely different case. I’m certain he will not return to Barcelona.”

Although the futures of Messi and Neymar remain uncertain, Barcelona’s current journey is progressing well. Under coach Xavi Hernández, the team is in a fierce battle to reclaim the La Liga title. Currently sitting at the top of the points table, they will face Real Sociedad in their upcoming match.

Liberty News’ sports correspondent states that the question remains: Will Messi return to Barcelona for another chapter, or will the past stay in the past? Only time will tell.
