A lawyer was brutally stabbed to death by a group of unidentified assailants in Moulvibazar town late Sunday night, triggering widespread shock and condemnation.
The victim, Sujon Mia, 36, was a member of the Moulvibazar District Bar and a resident of East Hilalpur in the town. According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred around 11 PM in front of the Moulvibazar Municipality building near a roadside food stall.
Sujon was reportedly approached by a group of 5-6 men who launched a sudden and frenzied knife attack, inflicting multiple stab wounds to his chest before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The gruesome murder has cast a pall of fear across the town. Fellow lawyers have expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the killing, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
Speaking to local media, Officer-in-Charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station, Md Mahbubur Rahman, confirmed that law enforcement is working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. “The family of the deceased is preparing to file a case. We are actively investigating the incident,” he said.
