The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, has issued a stern warning against the Awami League, declaring that those distributing leaflets will be arrested. He accused them of attempting to destabilize law and order through their activities.

Speaking at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday, Shafiqul Alam stated, “Supporters and associates of the fallen autocrat are attempting various actions, including distributing leaflets. Our firm message is that those engaged in this activity will be arrested, as the content of these leaflets poses a threat to law and order.”

Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Fayez Ahmed, and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi were also present at the event.

The Press Secretary further alleged that Awami League activists are spreading falsehoods and rumors online. “They are still calling the fallen autocrat their Prime Minister. We are monitoring everything closely. Anyone distributing leaflets or participating in such activities will be arrested and brought under legal action,” he asserted.

Regarding the distribution of leaflets by a pro-Awami League education cadre (Mukib Khan) at the National Press Club, he confirmed that arrests had been made. “We were informed that they planned to distribute leaflets at 70 locations in Dhaka, but they only attempted it at three spots, from which arrests were made. They are also spreading information online, working behind the scenes. They must spend their stolen money somewhere,” he remarked.

He added that the government is taking the involvement of the education cadre seriously and is scrutinizing his Facebook posts. “We are investigating every detail,” he said.

Government Response to Rumors and Cyber Threats
When asked about countermeasures against misinformation, the Press Secretary revealed that discussions with Facebook have taken place. He also claimed that Indian media outlets are engaging in a propaganda war against the government. “We suspect that those who smuggled billions of dollars abroad are orchestrating these actions. The Indian government has been informed about this issue,” he stated.

Controversy Over Sheikh Hasina’s Image in Book Fair
Regarding an incident involving a dustbin featuring an image of Sheikh Hasina at the book fair, Shafiqul Alam accused Awami League’s online supporters of targeting his family. “We know their character. It is unfortunate that even the former Prime Minister is meeting with them. Just look at their indecency—they manipulate images in horrifying ways! Yet, they try to teach us morality,” he criticized.

Government’s Stance on Titumir College Protests
Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder clarified that the government’s stance on the Titumir College students’ protest remains unchanged. “The government stands firm on its decision and has not made any new commitments,” he stated.

While acknowledging the public inconvenience caused by the protests, he urged students to avoid disrupting daily life. “If they have demands, they should build public opinion, write about them, and speak up. If they can gain public support, the government may consider their request in the future. However, they should not block roads and create suffering for people,” he advised.

July Uprising Injured Protesters and Human Trafficking Prevention
Addressing concerns about the injured protesters from the July uprising, Azad Mazumder assured that the government remains committed to their well-being. “Some individuals may feel frustration and restlessness, but the government is actively ensuring their proper treatment,” he said.

Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent states that on human trafficking, the Press Secretary highlighted that multiple government task forces are working on the issue. “Despite our stringent monitoring, such activities still occur. We are now taking further steps to ensure that human trafficking from Bangladesh is entirely eradicated,” he concluded.
