Wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das is set to lead Bangladesh in T20 internationals, with Sheikh Mahedi Hasan emerging as a strong contender for the vice-captaincy.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to announce Liton Das as the new T20I captain during the squad declaration for the upcoming tours of the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan later today. Liton’s appointment comes after his successful stint as a stand-in captain during the last West Indies series, where he led the Tigers to a 3-0 whitewash.

Under Liton’s interim leadership, Bangladesh won three out of four T20Is, showcasing his calm demeanor and tactical acumen. His consistent performances and on-field maturity have earned him the selectors’ trust to take charge permanently.

Though Liton is recovering from a finger injury sustained during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) practice session, he is expected to return to skill training tomorrow and resume full practice by May 12.

Bangladesh will play two T20Is in the UAE, followed by a five-match series in Pakistan. The new leadership is anticipated to inject fresh energy into the squad as they gear up for future global tournaments.
