Bangladesh enjoyed another strong session in Mirpur as the team built on Mushfiqur Rahim’s landmark century. By lunch on Day 2, the hosts were 387/5 after 120 overs, with Litton Das reaching his 5th Test hundred.

Litton, batting on 103 off 162 balls with two sixes and seven fours, anchored the innings alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who contributed 30 off 78 balls with a six and a four. Their partnership added 131 runs, steadying Bangladesh after the early loss of Mushfiq.

Litton was in sublime touch, moving fluently to his fifty in the first session and completing his century in the second over after resumption. He picked good balls to score and punished loose deliveries, offering bowlers very little room to attack. Miraz provided disciplined support at the other end, rotating the strike well.

Earlier, Mushfiq had been dismissed for 106, giving Bangladesh a solid platform after the first-hour jitters saw the team add just 57 runs for the first wicket. Spin-friendly conditions have offered some assistance, but Ireland’s bowlers, including Matthew Humphreys and Andy McBrine, were unable to fully exploit it.

Bangladesh heads into lunch in a commanding position, with two experienced middle-order batters setting up a strong platform for the second session.
