Mafuz Alam, the Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has claimed that forces opposing the public uprising are engaged in a “shadow war” against the government. His remarks were made in a Facebook post early Tuesday morning, where he also outlined government measures against violence, crime, and terrorism.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Mafuz Alam, the Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, commented that anti-uprising forces are waging a “shadow war” against the ongoing movement. He emphasized that the government has been proactive in tackling issues such as violence against women and children, terrorism, and crime, with arrests of offenders taking place across the country.

Referring to a meeting chaired by the Chief Adviser, Mafuz Alam shared that discussions were held on measures to prevent violence, curb the activities of banned organizations, and improve law and order. He assured that the government is committed to a tough stance on these matters, with swift and fair trials underway to ensure justice.

The post further mentioned the government’s efforts to create job opportunities for students and youth, with plans for a national program targeting young people’s employment. He also highlighted the government’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and emphasized that coordinated efforts to combat extremism are already in progress.

Alam outlined several key government actions, including controlling commodity prices, strengthening institutions, and taking positive initiatives for the victims of July’s violence. He pointed out that the government is also focused on the trial of perpetrators involved in war crimes, loot, and other injustices.

In his post, Mafuz Alam accused vested interests within the military-civilian bureaucracy, the business community, and the media of creating conflicts that undermine the public uprising. He warned that these groups, in collaboration with foreign-backed forces, are creating obstacles for the government. Despite the challenges, he maintained that the government is fighting a “war” against powerful domestic and international coalitions that had been defeated in the past.

Alam stressed that the uprising, though facing opposition, is a significant movement for the people, and the government is committed to defending the unity of the people against these forces. He urged for unity and resistance against these external pressures, which have been strategically planned and monitored.

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that the advisor also noted that despite the challenges, the government’s goal of state reform, accountability for war crimes, and democratic transformation remains intact. He emphasized that the country has the opportunity and capacity to grow, with international actors attempting to expedite regime change. However, he reassured that elections will occur as scheduled, and visible progress on state reforms will be made before the elections, along with the trial of criminals and corrupt officials.
