Malaysia has deported 45 Bangladeshi after they were found suspiciously roaming around Kuala Lumpur International Airport, despite claiming to be tourists.
On Wednesday, February 19, 45 Bangladeshi were deported from Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport after being detained for suspicious behavior. The Malaysian Border Control and Security Agency (AKPS) had arrested 68 foreign nationals earlier, among which 45 were Bangladeshi. These individuals, who had arrived as tourists, did not proceed to the immigration counters and were found wandering in the airport’s food courts and other areas. Authorities suspected they were waiting for someone.
The detained group consisted of 16 Pakistanis, 45 Bangladeshi, and 7 Indians. After verification of their documents, the authorities did not allow their entry into Malaysia and issued them a Notice to Leave (NTL), sending them back to their home countries.
Liberty News’ international correspondent states that according to AKPS, this incident marked the highest number of foreigners deported in a 24-hour period, with a total of 2,654 foreign nationals being scrutinized at Kuala Lumpur International Airport from January 1 to February 18. Among them, 900 were denied entry for not being genuine tourists.
