Malaysian authorities have detained 63 individuals—including 47 Bangladeshis—in separate immigration raids in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan, targeting undocumented migrants.

In a major immigration crackdown, Malaysian Immigration officials arrested a total of 63 people, including Bangladeshi, Indian, Indonesian, Thai, Nepalese, Chinese, and Myanmar nationals. The raids were conducted on Tuesday, April 15, in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.

In Kuala Lumpur, operations across five locations led to the arrest of 33 individuals. Among them were 27 Bangladeshi men, two Indian men, one Indonesian woman, and three Malaysian citizens—two men and one woman.

Meanwhile, in Kelantan, 33 undocumented migrant workers were detained, including 20 Bangladeshi men. Others included five Indonesian men, two Thai nationals, two Myanmar citizens, two Nepalese, one Chinese individual, and one Indonesian woman.

The arrests were made under Malaysia’s Immigration Act 1959/63, specifically Sections 6(1)(c), 15(1), and 56(1)(d), which deal with illegal stay and harboring undocumented migrants. Investigations are also underway under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

Authorities say the operation was part of an ongoing effort to ensure that all foreign workers comply with Malaysian immigration laws. The detained individuals will be held pending further legal procedures.
