Thousands of people from all walks of life gathered at Dhaka’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday to conclude the “March for Gaza” with prayers for the people of Palestine.

Organized by the Palestine Solidarity Movement, the event drew crowds regardless of political affiliation, religion, or background. The program ended with a heartfelt munajat (prayer) led by Mufti Abdul Malek, Khatib of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, at 4 PM following a declaration read out by Dr. Mahmudur Rahman, editor of Amar Desh.

Participants marched from different parts of the capital to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause, chanting slogans and holding banners condemning Israeli aggression. The gathering saw a rare moment of unity as leaders and activists from various political parties including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP shared the same stage.

The declaration demanded justice for Israel’s war crimes, a halt to genocide rather than a temporary ceasefire, recognition of East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, and full sovereignty for the Palestinian people.

Speakers and attendees called upon the global Muslim community and international leaders to unite against Israeli brutality and support Palestine’s right to freedom and statehood. The massive turnout turned the event into a historic show of national solidarity for Gaza.
