At the ‘March for Gaza’ event, Dr. Mahmudur Rahman, publisher and editor of Daily Amar Desh, announced a five-point declaration urging the United Nations and the international community to take decisive action against Israel’s aggression in Palestine.
Reading from the declaration, Dr. Mahmudur Rahman condemned several Western powers for prolonging the genocide in Gaza by providing Israel with weapons, financial support, and diplomatic backing. He criticized the global system for shielding Israel instead of holding it accountable.
The five demands made in the declaration are as follows:
- Ensure trial of Zionist Israel for genocide in an international court.
- Go beyond ceasefires and take effective, collective action to end the genocide.
- Create binding obligations for Israel to return land occupied after 1967.
- Recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state.
- Establish the right of Palestinians to self-determination, security, and full sovereignty.
Dr. Rahman emphasized that these demands reflect the global conscience and the urgent need to uphold justice, human rights, and international law.
