A large crowd gathered in front of BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday as the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal organized a May Day rally. The rally highlighted workers’ rights and a 12-point demand.

In observance of International Workers’ Day, thousands of activists under the banner of the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal—an affiliate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)—flocked to Nayapaltan, carrying banners and festoons from early morning to join the labor rally.

Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, earlier announced that a 12-point charter of demands would be presented at the rally. The demands focus on ensuring fair wages, safe workplaces, and justice for workers across all sectors.

BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, addressed the rally virtually from London as the chief guest, calling for unity among workers to restore democratic and labor rights in the country. He urged the government to fulfill the just demands of the labor force and condemned the repression faced by labor activists.

The event was marked by chants, speeches, and solidarity messages, reinforcing the party’s stance on labor empowerment and the need for political change to achieve justice for workers.
