Protesting students of Jagannath University have declared May 14 as ‘Black Day’ in response to police attacks on teachers, students, and journalists during a peaceful demonstration.

On Thursday night, the platform ‘JUBO Ekota’ made the announcement, stating that the police assault humiliated the entire university community, which is unacceptable.

General Secretary of the University Teachers’ Association, Dr. Md. Roisuddin, said the protest will continue until demands are met and no one will leave the movement.

A rally is scheduled for Friday morning, followed by a mass hunger strike and sit-in after the Juma prayer.

Regarding the bottle-throwing incident targeting the Information Adviser, Dr. Roisuddin stated that any involved student will face justice, but no action will be taken against them until those who assaulted teachers and students are held accountable.

The protesters affirmed that the movement will persist peacefully unless the administration provides a clear stance on their demands.
