“The date is almost final, but it should not be called final until an official notice is issued,” Mollika Khatun, joint secretary (medical education) of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, told The media.

“The existing test system relies entirely on memorisation, but a doctor needs to possess certain qualities such as empathy and critical thinking,” he said.

“So, there will be a section to assess those,” he told this correspondent.

However, the marks and MCQ format will remain unchanged, he added.

Asked about the possible reduction in the number of seats at medical colleges, Prof Rubina Yasmin, additional director general (medical education) of DGME, said no decision has been made, and another meeting is expected soon.

The admission test for the last session was held on 17 January this year. The authorities are bringing the date forward as the general election is expected to be held in February 2026, officials said.
