All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been crowned ICC’s Player of the Month for April, following his stellar performance with both bat and ball in the home Test series against Zimbabwe.
For the first time in his career, 27-year-old Mehidy Hasan Miraz has won the ICC Player of the Month award. His impactful performance in April helped him surpass Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand’s Ben Sears for the prestigious honor, the ICC announced in a statement on Wednesday (May 14).
Miraz became the third Bangladeshi cricketer to win this accolade after Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim.
In the two-match Test series held in Sylhet and Chattogram, Miraz played a pivotal role. He scored a century and took three five-wicket hauls with his off-spin. Despite Bangladesh losing the first Test to Zimbabwe by three wickets—where Miraz contributed 12 runs and 10 wickets—he staged a strong comeback in the second Test with a 104-run knock and a five-wicket haul. Bangladesh won the match by an innings and 106 runs, leveling the series 1-1.
Miraz’s all-round dominance not only inspired the team’s comeback but also earned him individual global recognition.
