Meta has temporarily disabled thousands of Facebook groups across several countries without issuing prior warnings, leaving admins and users concerned. Many affected group administrators have expressed frustration, alleging that Meta cited terrorism or nudity-related content as the cause for the restrictions.

However, Meta has clarified that a technical error in its algorithm is primarily to blame. The company’s development team is reportedly working urgently to resolve the issue.

Interestingly, groups focused on non-sensitive topics like shopping deals, parental support, special keyboards, pet care, gaming, Pokémon, and interior design were among those impacted.

In a statement, Meta acknowledged the glitch and assured users that they are taking the matter seriously: “We remain proactive about issues that affect Facebook groups and are working on a fix.” The company noted that the issue affected only a portion of groups and promised further clarity on whether the glitch conflicted with its self-regulated moderation system.

Some admins reported being wrongfully accused of promoting dangerous organizations, despite no such content being posted. Others claimed that having a verified subscription helped them receive faster support and restoration.

While some groups have already been reactivated, the sudden restriction without warning has disrupted services and business activities for many. In response, thousands of group admins are now preparing a joint legal petition against the platform.
