Meta has announced that all videos uploaded on Facebook — whether short or long — will now be automatically published as Reels, effectively removing the option to post standalone videos.

Previously, Facebook offered separate formats for videos and Reels, allowing content creators to earn from longer videos. With the new update, this distinction is gone, meaning there will be no separate monetisation for standard videos anymore.

Under the new system, creators must now post content as Reels to be eligible for earnings, and their income will follow the Reels monetisation policies.

Meta has also introduced enhanced creative tools with the update, including easy video trimming, filters, text, and music — even for those with no technical skills.

While the unified video interface is designed to make content creation and sharing easier, many video creators will now need to adapt their strategies to continue earning on the platform.
