Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC) plans to operate the metro rail on Friday mornings starting from May. On Tuesday, February 4th, during a meeting with members of Reporters for Rail and Road (RRR) at the metro rail depot in Uttara, the Managing Director of DMTC, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, shared this information.
He stated, “We are working to bring the metro rail frequency to a manageable level by May. We are focused on this goal and are following the guidance of our advisors. We have set May as our target and expect to have everything in place by then.”
The Managing Director of DMTC, while addressing the people of Dhaka, emphasized that graffiti on the metro rail pillars is acceptable. “Graffiti has inspired us and helped in our transformation,” he said. “However, now many people are putting up posters just for fun. To maintain the aesthetic appeal of Dhaka city, I am sending letters to the City Corporation and the police. We will take action accordingly.”
The meeting was attended by the Director (Operation and Maintenance) of DMTC, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Director (Finance and Accounts) Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, General Manager (Operations) Mohammad Iftikhar Hossain, President of Reporters for Rail and Road Anwar Hossain, General Secretary Mohammad Tawheedul Islam, Vice President Partha Sarathi Das, and Executive Committee member Munima Sultana.
