Mirza Abbas : Hunt devils inside govt, not forests

Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has called for a crackdown on what he describes as “Awami ghosts” embedded within government offices, accusing them of misleading the current administration.

Speaking at a seminar titled Tarique Rahman’s 31-Point Reform Agenda and Public Engagement organized by the Mugda Thana unit of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP on Tuesday, Abbas criticized the ongoing “Devil Hunt” operation, urging authorities to focus on corrupt elements within government institutions rather than searching for “devils” in forests.

“The Devil Hunt operation is fine, but instead of looking for devils in the jungles, uncover those hiding in government offices. These Awami spirits are still entrenched in every government institution, trying to lead this administration astray,” Abbas said.

The event, chaired by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu, was moderated by Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin.

Abbas emphasized the need for vigilance against conspiracies to delay national elections, warning that local elections could provide opportunities for Awami League loyalists to resurface.

“We fought for parliamentary elections, but some are pushing for local elections instead. They don’t realize that Awami fascists hiding in the shadows will exploit loopholes in local elections to re-emerge. This is a sinister plot. We must remain alert to ensure no conspiracy delays the national elections,” he added.

Liberty News’ city correspondent reports that the seminar featured presentations and analyses of the 31-point reform agenda by Nationalist Women’s Party President Afroza Abbas, BNP leader Engineer Ishraq Hossain, and Executive Committee Member Habibur Rashid Habib. Other prominent BNP leaders, including Shamsul Huda, Yunus Mridha, Joint Convener Harun ur Rashid Harun, Liton Mahmud, and Haji Monir Hossain, were also present.
