ISPR : Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar attacked

Vandals have attacked the Cox’s Bazar Air Force base. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate issued a press release regarding the incident on Monday (February 24).

Local sources have reported that the attack occurred in the vicinity of the Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar, following an eviction drive in the nearby Samiti Para area.

Local authorities and members of the Bangladesh Air Force are reportedly trying to control the situation.

The attack took place around 11:30 AM on Monday, it has been confirmed that one person has been killed.

District Administrator Mohammad Salauddin told Liberty News, “One person has died and several others have been injured in the incident. We will take appropriate action after discussions with both parties.”

Saiful Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police, confirmed to Liberty News that the deceased was named Shihab, a businessman and son of Nasir Uddin from Samiti Para in Ward 1 of the municipality.

When asked about the incident, local resident Kabir stated that efforts to evict the residents of Kutubdia Para had been ongoing for a long time. The locals had protested and held human chains several times, but to no avail. Today, the same issue led to a violent confrontation.

Liberty News’ local correspondent reports that no one is being allowed to approach the scene.
