Following his retirement announcement from One-Day Internationals, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was honored with a Guard of Honor by his teammates ahead of a Dhaka Premier League match in Mirpur.
Mushfiqur Rahim, the prominent wicketkeeper-batsman, announced his decision to retire from One-Day International cricket via a Facebook post on Wednesday night. After his retirement announcement, he played in a match for Mohammedan Sporting Club, wearing their jersey in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
Before the match began at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, his Mohammedan teammates gave him a Guard of Honor to mark his departure from international cricket. The gesture was made as a tribute to his significant contribution to the national team over the years.
Liberty News’ sports correspondent states that in Thursday’s DPL fixture, Mohammedan faced Rupganj Tigers. Although he bid farewell to international cricket, Mushfiqur Rahim will continue to play in domestic List-A tournaments.
