NCP Convener Nahid Islam on Friday called on the people of Narayanganj to stay vigilant against the rise of a new political “dynasty” and the return of authoritarianism in the country.

Speaking during a district march, Nahid criticized the long-standing dominance of the Awami League-backed Osman family in Narayanganj, accusing them of holding power through rigged elections and criminal networks.

“You stood up during last year’s uprising—this struggle must continue until we establish a new, truly people-centered system of governance,” he told the crowd.

The event also marked “Private University Resistance Day,” during which Nahid paid tribute to students from private universities and other institutions who lost their lives in previous protests.
