Nasiruddin Patowary, the chief coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), condemned the Facebook post by Hasnat Abdullah, a senior party member, calling it “inappropriate” and “unbecoming.” He also stressed the need for political decisions to remain free from military interference.

On Saturday, Nasiruddin Patowary, while speaking to the media at an iftar gathering in Sylhet, remarked on the recent social media post made by Hasnat Abdullah, the NCP’s key organizer for the southern region. He stated that the post regarding a meeting at a military cantonment was inappropriate and violated proper conduct. Patowary emphasized that the involvement of military personnel in political matters was unwelcome and should be avoided.

Patowary went on to express disagreement with the remarks made by the principal advisor regarding the Awami League, stating, “We completely disagree with the statement made about the Awami League. If anyone attempts to ban or eliminate the Awami League’s presence, we will not back down from fighting them.”

During the event, an altercation took place between two factions, creating a commotion. Following this, Patowary shared his vision for the future, stressing the importance of reforms and the necessity to exclude the Awami League from upcoming elections. He pledged to address local issues, such as establishing an international airport in Sylhet and upgrading the city’s roads, if they form a government.

Liberty News’ political correspondent states that the iftar event saw speeches from several prominent figures, including the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Sylhet, Fakhrul Islam, editor of local newspaper Daily Sylhet Mirror Ahmed Noor, and others. Despite tensions during the event, Patowary reassured the public that his party would work towards a better future for Sylhet.
