On the occasion of Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, people from all walks of life gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar to pay their respects to the language martyrs.

Since the early hours of Friday, people began flocking to the Central Shaheed Minar, bringing flowers, wreaths, and placards in tribute. The crowd’s presence continued to grow as dawn broke, marking the significance of the day.

Earlier, President Md. Sahabuddin and the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, led the ceremonial flower offerings at the monument. Following their tribute, Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, along with the judges of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, paid their respects. The interim government advisors also followed suit.

Diplomats, ambassadors, and high commissioners from various countries stationed in Bangladesh laid wreaths, as did the Chief Election Commissioner and other members of the Election Commission.

The ceremonial tributes continued as the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with representatives from the police, Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the National Security Intelligence (NSI), all paid their homage.

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that at 12:40 AM, the monument was opened to the public, allowing people from all political backgrounds and professions to lay flowers in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Bengali language.
