Bangladesh’s bowlers produced a spirited fightback after lunch on Day 4 of the Galle Test, dismissing Sri Lanka for 485 and securing a slim 10-run first-innings lead.

Hasan Mahmud sparked the collapse early in the session by removing Milan Rathnayake for 39 with a low delivery that clipped the stumps. Moments later, Nayeem Hasan delivered a turning ball to dismiss Kamindu Mendis for a well-made 87, caught sharply by Litton Das behind the stumps.

Nayeem went on to complete a five-wicket haul — his fourth in Test cricket — with final figures of 5 for 121. Remarkably, it was his first Test appearance outside Bangladesh, seven years after his debut.

Hasan Mahmud also impressed with 3 wickets, while Litton Das kept superbly throughout the innings, finishing with four catches.

Despite the collapse, Kamindu Mendis continued his fine run against Bangladesh, averaging 113.5 across five innings in Tests.
