The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) will complete its official registration application with the Election Commission by June 15, said northern chief organizer Sarjis Alam during a press briefing in Panchagarh.

Speaking near the Panchagarh-Banglabandha highway on Monday, Sarjis Alam confirmed that NCP has fulfilled most of the requirements for political registration and is on track to finalize the process by mid-June. Hasnat Abdullah, the party’s southern chief organizer, was also present at the event.

“We’ve established committees in 100 upazilas across 22 districts and are setting up a central office,” said Sarjis. “We are strictly following all legal and procedural steps for registration.”

He stressed the importance of grassroots mobilization, noting that NCP is building its organizational strength from the capital to remote villages. “This foundation will prepare us for meaningful electoral participation,” he added.

On election timelines, Sarjis said the party supports an April schedule, contingent on visible reforms in the judiciary, law enforcement, and the Election Commission. “We will have no objections to an April election if genuine reforms are introduced.”

He voiced concern about Bangladesh’s past election culture. “Abuse of power, black money, and muscle politics have tainted our electoral system. We demand a level playing field for all parties, regardless of size.”

Sarjis called on the government and interim authorities to ensure neutrality during the upcoming elections. “We don’t want to see a repeat of past irregularities—like ballot theft or station takeovers. Law enforcement, the judiciary, and the Election Commission must act professionally to guarantee fairness.”
