The Bangladesh Bank is set to release newly designed banknotes of various denominations, including Tk 10, 20, 50, and 1000, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. The notes feature historic landmarks, cultural symbols, and student artwork from recent movements.

Several of the redesigned notes have already been printed and will soon be delivered from the Gazipur Security Printing Corporation to the central bank’s Motijheel office. The new series excludes the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and instead highlights national heritage and youth-led movements.

Among the upcoming releases, the Tk 20 note will showcase the Kantajew Temple of Dinajpur and other historical visuals, expected to enter circulation on May 27. The Tk 50 note, scheduled for release on May 29, will feature famine paintings by Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, along with images of historic Muslim mosques.

The Tk 1000 note, anticipated by June 2, will include images of the Bangabhaban and the National Martyrs’ Memorial, while the Tk 10 note will highlight symbols of youth unity and the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The Tk 100 note is set to depict the Sundarbans, along with deer and tigers, emphasizing the country’s biodiversity. The Tk 200 note will reflect Bangladesh’s religious harmony by featuring images of a mosque, temple, church, and pagoda. The Tk 500 note will carry an image of Ahsan Manzil, a historical landmark in old Dhaka.

However, due to delays in importing special security paper, the Tk 5 note, which was to feature portraits of Abu Sayeed and Mugdha from the July movement, will not be available before Eid. It is expected to be released shortly afterward.
