The Bangladesh Bank has started distributing fresh banknotes of Tk 1,000, Tk 50, and Tk 20 denominations from today through 11 selected commercial banks, ahead of the upcoming Eid celebrations.

Signed by Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, the new series of crisp and vibrant banknotes entered the market on Sunday. As per tradition, the central bank issues fresh notes before major religious festivals to facilitate the exchange of clean currency for gift-giving purposes.

According to official sources, customers can collect the new notes from designated branches of 11 banks. These include Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Pubali Bank, Uttara Bank, Rupali Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Islami Bank, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, BRAC Bank, and Eastern Bank.

Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director and spokesperson Arif Hossain stated on Saturday, “Our direct clients are the commercial banks. A limited supply of new notes has been sent to a few banks. These will reach customers by Monday or the following day.”

In the first phase, the central bank has released Tk 20, Tk 50, and Tk 1,000 notes. Officials further confirmed that more denominations will be printed and gradually distributed in the coming days.

The initiative aims to meet public demand for fresh notes during Eid, ensuring smoother and more appealing monetary transactions during the festive season.
