Google Chrome introduces two new features for Android users aimed at making tab management easier and more efficient, including tab search and sync functionality across devices.

Google Chrome has launched two new features for Android users to enhance tab management. The latest update adds a “Search Your Tabs” bar in the tab switcher section, allowing users to quickly find open tabs. The search bar will appear at the top of the screen and users can search for specific tabs by typing keywords. Results will include tabs, bookmarks, browsing history, and web search results. This feature also works in incognito mode. Previously available on desktop versions, it is now being rolled out for Android in the latest Chrome update.

In addition to this, Google has introduced the “Tab Group Sync” feature. This allows users to access the same tab groups across multiple devices signed into Chrome. When a user creates a tab group on their desktop, it will be available on their other devices as well. A new icon in the tab grid shows a list of open tab groups from other devices. This feature can be controlled through the settings menu and is enabled by default, though users can choose to disable it.

Another feature introduced is the “Inactive Tab” category. If a tab hasn’t been used for 21 days, it will be moved to this section. Users can disable this feature entirely or set a custom time (7 or 14 days) before inactive tabs are archived. Furthermore, if a website is opened multiple times, only the most recently used tab will be saved, while the others are automatically archived. Tabs that remain inactive for 60 days will be closed automatically, though users can restore them from their browsing history.

Liberty News’ tech correspondent states these updates aim to improve Chrome’s usability for Android users, providing more efficient ways to manage and access tabs across devices.
