Nixon Chowdhury prime accused in police station attack

Former lawmaker and Awami Jubo League presidium member Mujibur Rahman Nixon Chowdhury has been made the prime accused in a case filed over the attack and vandalism at Bhanga Police Station in Faridpur.

The case was lodged on Tuesday (16 September) by Sub-Inspector Azaduzzaman of Bhanga Police Station, police officials confirmed.

A total of 29 people were named, while several unidentified individuals were also accused. Among the listed accused is Khokon Mia, chairman of Hamirdi Union Parishad, who has been placed as the second accused.

Police said the attack caused damages estimated at around Tk 40 lakh.

Earlier, under a case filed in line with the Speedy Trial Act, the chairman of Algi Union was arrested.

Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla added that preparations are also underway to file a separate case over the violence at the Bhanga Upazila Complex.
