Local Government and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has said that party symbols will not be used in the upcoming local government elections.

He shared the information in a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.

In the post, Asif Mahmud mentioned that the advisory council has approved amendments to four relevant laws placed by the Local Government Division during today’s meeting.

The Awami League government had earlier introduced the provision of holding local government elections with party symbols by amending the laws.
