Senior military officials have firmly denied any conflict between the Bangladesh government and the armed forces, assuring the nation that both institutions are working in full coordination to uphold national sovereignty and stability.
At a press briefing held on Monday at Dhaka Cantonment, Brigadier General Md Nazim Ud Doula stated that recent claims of discord between the government and the army, particularly on social media, are unfounded. “There is no division between the government and the military. These narratives being spread online are baseless,” he said.
He emphasized that the army remains committed to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, stability, and security in collaboration with the government. “We share a strong working relationship with the government and act together in the national interest,” Brigadier Nazim Ud Doula added.
Responding to questions regarding port corridors, he assured that the army would never be involved in any activities that could compromise national security. “We do not make decisions that go against the interests of the country,” he stressed.
Addressing rumors about the army assuming power if national elections are not held by December, Colonel Shafiqul Islam dismissed them outright. “There is no truth to such speculation. The army has no intention of taking control, nor has this been discussed within the force,” he said.
The military officials also briefed the media on various field operations carried out by the army throughout the month.
The briefing comes amid political chatter following Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman’s recent internal address suggesting that elections should be conducted by December, sparking debate among political commentators and analysts.
