Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said that character assassination of any individual or political party is unacceptable and deserves condemnation.
“Freedom of expression is undoubtedly your right. However, protests against injustice should be expressed in a respectful and civil manner. Criticism must be grounded in logic and facts. Character assassination of any individual or political party is entirely inappropriate and condemnable,” he said in a Facebook post.
The Jamaat ameer further said, “In recent days, several distressing incidents have occurred in our social life. Restoring order in society in light of these issues is not the sole responsibility of any single individual or group.”
“The government, political parties, and people from all walks of life must collectively shoulder this responsibility. In such sensitive times, there must be at least some space for national unity,” he added.
Shafiqur said, “Such behaviour only sows the seeds of chaos, discord, and disunity in society. Therefore, it is essential for everyone to act with restraint, caution, and a sense of responsibility.”
“May Allah Almighty grant us all the wisdom to understand this reality,” he added.
