Notorious criminal Polash arrested in Khulna; 11 detained

A violent gunfight broke out between law enforcement and the notorious ‘Polash Gang’ in Khulna, injuring several security personnel, including three police officers. The joint forces arrested 11 suspects, including gang leader Sheikh Polash, and seized a cache of firearms and motorcycles.

According to Khulna Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Sonadanga Zone) Md. Azam Khan, law enforcement received intelligence on the gang’s presence in Banorgati late Saturday night. When police and joint forces launched an operation, the criminals opened fire, prompting retaliatory gunfire. After an intense exchange, authorities managed to apprehend 11 suspects.

The arrested individuals include Sheikh Polash, Rubel alias Kala Lavlu, Saikat Rahman, Mohidul Islam, Golam Rabbani, Md. Ariful, Mohammad Liyon Sharif, Imranuzzaman, Imran, Ripon, and Fazle Rabbi Razon.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered three pistols, a single-barrel shotgun, a sawed-off rifle, a Chinese axe, a machete, and several rounds of ammunition. Seven motorcycles used by the criminals were also seized.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the gang was hiding inside an under-construction single-story building in the Arambag area of Banorgati. The operation involved personnel from the army and navy.
