One death and six new Covid-19 cases were reported in the country within a 24-hour period from 8 am Friday to 8 am Saturday.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), “One additional Covid-19-related death was recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 23 since January.”
During this period, 239 samples were tested, resulting in a positivity rate of 2.51 percent, the DGHS statement noted.
The total death toll from Covid-19 since the pandemic began in 2020 is 29,523.
The first Covid-19 case in the country was identified on March 8, 2020, with the first virus-related death reported ten days later on March 18, 2020.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 294 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of these, the highest number of patients have been admitted in Barguna district.
