Police have seized 11,785 pieces of clothing suspected to be uniforms for the armed hill group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) from a warehouse in Chattogram’s Bayezid area, escalating concerns over alleged support operations for the outlawed group.

A raid was carried out Monday night at a warehouse reportedly linked to Ringvo Apparels, where the suspected uniforms were found. This comes after an earlier seizure of 20,300 similar items on May 17 from the same company, believed to be part of a total 32,000-unit work order.

Despite the gravity of the findings, police have made no official statement regarding the latest seizure. However, sources say the investigation links the garments to the KNF, an armed group active in parts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Three individuals — Ringvo Apparels owner Shahedul Islam, along with work order mediators Golam Azam and Niaz Haidar — were arrested following the first incident. A case under the Anti-Terrorism Act was filed at Bayezid Bostami Police Station on May 18 by Sub-Inspector Iqbal Hossain. One more suspect, Monghlaseng Marma, also known as “Mong,” was named in the case.

Police reports indicate that the two mediators took the work order in March from Monghlaseng for Tk 2 crore, with delivery scheduled for the end of this month. Officials close to the investigation said confirmation of the uniforms’ affiliation with KNF is still pending, though “sensitive leads” are being followed.

The KNF gained public attention in 2022 after releasing videos of militant training and attacks via Facebook, declaring intentions to establish a separate state using nine upazilas across two hill districts. The group’s activity has since been confined to a few remote areas in Bandarban due to clashes with security forces and rival outfits.
