Pakistan’s military claims it has destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and downed at least five Indian fighter jets in response to recent missile attacks from India.

Amid escalating tensions, Pakistan’s armed forces have issued a strong retaliatory message to India following missile strikes late Tuesday night. According to Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, the Pakistani Air Force shot down five Indian fighter jets and destroyed a brigade headquarters and a checkpoint in Indian-administered Kashmir.

“This was a fitting and precise response to India’s cowardly aggression,” Asif told Dawn newspaper. “Pakistan’s armed forces are fully committed to defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for Pakistan’s military, condemned India’s missile attack as “provocative and cowardly,” asserting that Pakistan will continue to respond appropriately. He made the remarks during an emergency press briefing held early Wednesday.

In the wake of the developments, Pakistani Prime Minister has called an emergency session of the National Security Committee, scheduled for 10:00 AM local time on May 7. The meeting is expected to discuss the ongoing conflict and coordinate the country’s next steps.

The situation remains tense as both nuclear-armed nations exchange accusations and intensify military posturing along the Line of Control.
