Ahead of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan has received some good news, climbing to second place in the ICC ODI team rankings. Pakistan, who secured a spot in the final of the Tri-Series by defeating South Africa yesterday, has risen one place in the most recent rankings update.

Pakistan now has 111 rating points, the same as Australia, who lost to Sri Lanka yesterday. However, Pakistan, having played fewer matches than the reigning World Champions, edged ahead by a fraction of a point. Australia’s rating dropped by 2 points after the loss to Sri Lanka, while Pakistan gained 2 points from their win.

India remains at the top with 119 rating points, having whitewashed England 3-0 in their recent series. This victory increased India’s rating by 1 point, while England’s rating dropped by 1 to 92 points.

New Zealand, who advanced to the final of the Tri-Series in Pakistan, also saw their rating rise by 2 points to 102, moving up from 5th to 4th position. South Africa, who were eliminated from the tournament, dropped from 4th to 5th, losing 3 points in the process.

Liberty News’ sports correspondent states that Bangladesh, with 81 points, remains in 9th place in the rankings.
