Exiled online activists Pinaki Bhattacharya, Elias, and Kanak Sarwar may return to Bangladesh if needed to stand in solidarity with Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, amid growing political tensions.
In a Facebook post published at 11:15 AM on Friday, Pinaki Bhattacharya declared that he, along with Elias and Kanak Sarwar, would jointly land at Dhaka Airport if the country requires their support in backing Professor Yunus. His post comes amid a rapid chain of political developments, the latest being speculation that Dr Yunus may step down from his advisory role in the proposed interim government. “If the nation needs us, we will return together to stand by Professor Yunus,” wrote Pinaki on Facebook. Within hours, the post received over 150,000 likes and more than 18,000 comments, reflecting widespread public attention. One user, Naeem Islam Sagor, commented, “The country once saw a movement to topple the government on July 36—now it will witness a movement to protect it.” Another user, Atik Islam, wrote, “The people are waiting for your return.” The statement has added a new dimension to the unfolding political narrative, as speculation about the future of the interim government continues to swirl.
