Police blocked a protest march led by “July Oikya” to the Indian High Commission, located in Gulshan, on Wednesday afternoon, causing severe traffic gridlock on the Pragati Sharani.
Hundreds of protesters sat down on the road around 4pm, after police set up barricades at Badda.
The protesters used loudspeakers to chant different slogans against what they alleged “Indian expansionist policies” and “anti-Bangladesh conspiracies.
The march was planned to demand India extradite Sheikh Hasina and others accused over July Uprising atrocities.
The march began from the Rampura Bridge around 3:15pm.
