Jagannath University students marching towards the advisor’s residence as part of the ‘March to Jamuna’ program faced police resistance in Kakrail on Wednesday. Law enforcers used tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the demonstrators demanding improved housing and budget allocation.

On Wednesday around 11:30 AM, hundreds of students from Jagannath University began a long march from their campus towards the residence of the chief advisor in Jamuna, pressing a three-point demand that includes housing allowances, full approval of the proposed university budget, and the implementation of a second campus project.

As the march reached the Kakrail area, police confronted the students. In response to the students’ continued protest, law enforcers fired tear gas shells and sound grenades to break up the gathering.

Undeterred by the police action, students sat on the street and began chanting slogans demanding justice and fulfillment of their rights. The situation grew tense as protesters refused to retreat, calling for accountability from authorities.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
