Masum Billah, Ashashuni: Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man hanging from a mangrove tree on the bank of the Kholpetua River in Satkhira’s Ashashuni upazila.
The discovery was made around 10:00am on Sunday (29 June) when locals spotted the body in a keora grove near the Kalyanpur Trimohona ferry ghat, on the southern edge of the riverbank under the Pratapnagar Union.
According to police, the deceased was wearing a check lungi and a brown shirt. His face was disfigured by aquatic insects, making immediate identification difficult.
Ashashuni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Arefin said, “Initial observations suggest that the body may have floated in with the tide and got entangled in the keora grove. We are investigating the matter.”
Inspector (Investigation) Abdul Wadud visited the scene and is leading the inquiry. Police are working to determine the man’s identity and the cause of death.
