Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said that the police are trying to handle the tense situation in Gopalganj with patience and restraint.
Speaking on Wednesday, the IGP said, “We are trying to calm the unrest with as much patience as possible. We are now reinforcing the area with additional police forces to bring the situation under full control. We are not using any lethal weapons, so it’s taking us a bit more time.”
Tensions have been running high in Gopalganj since noon on Wednesday over the National Citizens Party (NCP)’s rally.
